Contribute to the evaluation of the warehouse context;
Identify the performance objectives of Warehouse Management;
Identify and management of warehouse operations (reception, conference, putaway, picking, packing, expedition)
Use of Information Technology to support Warehouse Management;
Monitor Warehouse Management using suitable Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
Syllabus
1. Role of Warehouse in Supply Chains.
2. Type and Location of Warehouses.
3. The importance of human factor in Warehouse Management.
4. Warehouse Management:
4.1 Concepts for calculating the profitability of storage space
4.2 Concepts for calculating the profitability of Human Resources (insoursing/outsourcing)
5. Material handling: Available equipments performance and costs.
6. Information Systems in Warehouse Operations.
7. Inverse Logistics in Warehouse Management.
8. Quality
9. Processes and Procedures in Warehouse Management
10. Key Performance Indicadotors (KPI) for control of Warehouse Management.
Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes
Practical Classes:
- Use of exposition and participation methods to introduce theoretical concepts.
- Analysis and resolution of exercices from real cases
- Work assingments with the support of specific software
Teaching methodologies
Continuous evaluation composed of a written test, work assingment and a practical exercise.
Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes
Evaluation is composed of:
• Work Assingment (TG) (groups of 3/4 elements).
• Practical Exercise (EP) in laboratory.
• Written Test (T), individual with a time duration of 2 hours.
Assessment methodologies and evidences
Final Classment = 0,45 (T) + 0,40 (TG) + 0,15 (EP)
• Work assingment: report (50% - group grade); discussion (50% - individual)
• If Written Test (T) grade, Work Assingment (TG) or Practical Exercise (EP) is bellow 7,5 points, the student must to to final exam.
