Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

Descriptive statistics allows us to describe and interpret the information contained in a set of numerical data. Thus it is essential to use the concepts of descriptive statistics and interpret the results. Statistical inference requires knowledge of the probabilities.
The statistical methods in order to make inference are the confidence intervals and hypothesis testing. It is important to know how to:
- Use the distributions;
- Build and apply confidence intervals;
- Apply hypothesis tests.

Teaching methodologies

The expository method requires the active participation of students and the answering of exercises.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

The presentation of theoretical concepts is done using the expository method which features active participation from the students. These concepts are illustrated with small examples.
The answering of exercises, either individually or as a group, allows the student to understand the theoretical reasoning behind it and interpret the results.

Assessment methodologies and evidences

Continuous evaluation
The evaluation of knowledge is constituted by two evaluation moments, that is, by the accomplishment of two tests. These tests will have a minimum score of 7.5 values. The final classification will be the average of the two tests.
If this score is not reached in the 1st test, at the second evaluation moment, the student must perform a global test. The final classification will be the classification of the global test.

In case the student obtains the minimum grade in the 1st test, at the second evaluation moment, the student can choose between accomplish the 2nd test or global test. If the student chooses to accomplish a global test, the final classification will be the classification of the global test. If the student chooses to accomplish the 2nd test, the final classification will be the average of the two tests.

To obtain approval, a final grade of 10 (ten) values is required.



Final evaluation
There are three epochs of final evaluation:

Normal Season | 1st season (intended for students who choose not be evaluate in the continuous evaluation)
A Final Exam constitutes the evaluation of the normal season. If the exam grade is less than 10, there will be no approval.

Time of Resource | 2nd season (intended for students who did not obtained approval in the normal season or in the continuous evaluation)
The evaluation system is the same as in the final evaluation of the Normal Season.

Special Season:
The evaluation system is the same as in the Resource Season.
