Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)

raming the Human Resources Management (HRM) knowledge in the context of the management of public services;
• Understand PA reform processes and the underlying theories;
• To know the evolution of HRM in PA and the practices of some countries;
• Identify the HRM cycles in the Portuguese AP;
• Understand an articulation of the different levels of HRM in the Portuguese AP;
• To stimulate students' critical thinking and ability to reflect on the characteristics and specificities of Human Resources Management in Public Administration.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

The programmatic content articulates with the objectives of the UC since it is proposed to work on the issues related to the AP schools, which have different public service concepts underlying them. The issues of state reform and the influence of the EU and the OECD work. The phases of PA in Portugal and their characteristics and structure are also worked, with the aim of responding to the last stated objective.

Teaching methodologies

Theoretical classes - Use of the expository-interrogative method
• Practical classes - Use of the participatory method
• Guidance tutorial - In the elaboration of the works subject to continuous evaluation.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

Theoretical lectures, mainly expository, aim to approach the themes contained in the programmatic contents, restoring critically analyzed information about them. Practical and tutorial classes aim to deepen the knowledge acquired in the theoretical classes, developing the critical spirit and the capacity for analysis.

Assessment methodologies and evidences

Continuous evaluation
The assessment of knowledge consists of:
• Presentation and delivery of a Powerpoint with presentation of a website in the Public Administration area (10%).
• Elaboration of a Group Work 40%)
• Performing an individual written test (50%)
Final evaluation

Normal (intended for students who did not opt ​​for continuous assessment)

The evaluation of the normal time is constituted by an individual and face-to-face written test.
