Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)
The main objectives of the Curricular Unit are:
• To reflect on the importance of strategy and information systems to the management and development of organizations
• To master the concepts and tools for strategic planning of information systems
• To analyze and apply methodologies and techniques of analysis and formulation to strategy and information systems
• To critically reflect on the strategic alternatives available to an organization, both at the corporate level and specifically in what respects information systems.
Therefore, this Curricular Unit aims to contribute to understanding organizations, professional adaptability, creativity and problem solving, as well as an interdisciplinary and systemic view of economic activity and organizational development.

4. Strategic Dimensions: Diversification, Products-Markets, Vertical Integration, Internationalization
5. Information Systems in Organizations
6. Information Systems Strategy versus Organizational Strategy
7. Development of Information Systems Strategy and Competitive Advantage
Teaching methodologies
The Curricular Unit is structured around lectures, which familiarize students with the theoretical body of the Curricular Unit, and practical lessons, that provide consolidation of knowledge and develop skills of application and know-how. Through discussions and exchange of experiences in class related to each subject, rather than merely transmitting information, it is intended to achieve learning that allows each participant to consolidate and deepen his/her base of specific knowledge, being the practical lessons mostly based on practical work and case studies. Thus, whenever possible a participatory approach will be used, focusing on group work rather than individual work.
Assessment methodologies and evidences
Continuous assessment comprises:
• Group Work
• Individual Evaluation Test.
Final assessment also comprises a Group Work and/or a Test.
