To understand the importance of using good management practices for IT projects;
To understand the fundamental concepts of IT project management;
To understand the process groups and knowledge areas of project management as defined in PMBOK - Project Management Body of Knowledge;
To use the general model of project management, as recommended by the PMBOK, to plan, manage and successfully complete IT projects.

The teaching / learning is based in the following:
• Lectures of theoretical concepts;
• Class sessions where students use the acquired knowledge, solve problems and do case analysis;
• writing short essays during classes about past lectures;
• Solving tests that allow the student to closely check how well he/she is progressing;
The project management tool used in the tests/exam is Microsoft Project.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes
Continuous assessment consists of two tests, assessment of class participation and grading of one of several wirting essays done at the beginning of most classes.
The final evaluation consists of one exam. The project management tool used in the tests/exam is Microsoft Project.
Final Grade = 0,25 X Class Participation + 0,50 X Tests (2 tests) + 0,25 X Writing essay
