Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)

Understanding the organization's development dynamics. Understanding organizational theories and their contributions to definition of appropriate models and structures to the organization's needs.

It is intended that curricular unit contributes to:
• Understand different organizational models/structures in relation to contexts in which they operate.
• Operation and dynamics in the development of organizations
• Organizational structure dimensions
• Identify, understand and draw up different organizational structures depending on organization objectives and their subsystems

It is also intended that students develop macro-skills, such as: interaction with the environment; ability to work in group; initiative, autonomy; responsibility; decision-making; critical thinking/reflection about curricular unit specific themes.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

Principal aim is to understand organization's dynamic development and the contributions of organizational theories to define models and structures appropriate to the needs of organizations. The syllabus seeks to reflect on these two aspects in an integrated and coherent way. To support the understanding of both is made an approach to theory and organizational structures. Initially the review will reflect on the effect of organization's dynamics, the operation of organizations in dynamic and competitive environments, organization as a flow system, strategy and strategic choice, planning models and strategic requirements, and the organizational system. In a second step, based on this, reflects on the organizational structures, which are presented and analyzed in terms of configurations and graphics (charts).

Teaching methodologies

Teaching methodologies used:
Lectures - expositive method, but the use of other techniques is also enhanced, such as: ask questions to students, formative questions in class, reading support classes, that promote a more active role by the students.

Practical Classes - participatory approach that values the active participation of students in educational activities. Included in these classes: to carry out individual or group works, performing and discussing practical cases, resolution and discussion exercises, individual or group oral presentations and simulations.

Tutorial Guidance - for research and information treatment necessary for students to complete at tasks.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

Within the framework of the Bologna Process was crucial to implement a new model in which the methods should be diversified, requiring a more active participation by students, as well as greater autonomy. It is n this sense will the teaching methodologies used in this course. The activities are promoted in accordance with the objectives of this curricular unit and their contents. The execution of individual or group exercises, case studies, simulations, or other, promote the development of a set of macro-skills, such as the possibility of interaction with the environment, the ability to work in groups, the initiative, autonomy, responsibility, decision making and critical thinking and reflection on situations related to specific themes of the curricular unit.
