Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)

The curricular unit aims to be an opportunity for direct contact/continuing with professional exercise, developing employability, relationships with colleagues/managers in real world of work and the ability to reflect on their own experiences. Would also be an opportunity to develop skills in scientific research.
The skills developed in the Internship or Applied Organisational Project (AOP) are:
• Ability to integrate into an organization or to develop a project in an organisational environment
• Ability to relate to colleagues and superiors
• Ability to perform activities of their own professional field under the guidance of others
• Ability to act with ethics and sense of responsibility
• Ability to reflect on their own work
• Ability to do scientific and technological research

Syllabus

Taking into account the objectives and responsibilities set out, the Internship report or project report should take into account the specific context, objectives and activities of each internship or each specific project.
Internship report should address the following issues: characterization of the objectives and the organizational context in which internship took place; description and analysis of activities undertaken during the internship; reflection on internship contribution to personal and professional development.
Project report should address the following issues: discussion of the theoretical approach that fits the problem; defining study methodology; presentation and discussion of empirical results; addendum to reflect project contribution on personal and professional development student.


Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

The Internship is an opportunity for direct and continuous contact with professional life so developing employability. Taking into account the objectives and competencies to be developed, internship reflects these objectives and competencies taking into account the specific context, objectives and activities of each internship.

The Applied Organisational Project is an opportunity to develop skills in scientific research, creating the basis for understanding and development. Taking into account the objectives and competencies to be developed, project report allows for the study of an empirical reality in order to apply the knowledge acquired in study and resolution of specific problems in the Management Information Systems area. Thus, project aims to define the problem to study and contributes to understanding and its resolution.

Teaching methodologies

Internship - training in the real work context, under tutorial guidance with an official of the host organization, in order to apply and develop scientific, technical and professional skills.

Tutorial Guidance - individual scientific/educational sessions, aimed to monitor and guide development skills, through specific topic discussions, presentation and discussion of the students project’s development/literature research results.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

The Internship or Applied Organizational Project aims to be an opportunity for direct and continuous contact with the professional field to develop employability and scientific research skills. Thus, Internship Methodology and Tutorial Guidance represent privileged interaction forms between teachers and students in order to apply and develop scientific, technical and professional skills, using learning strategies, to negotiate specific objectives to be achieved and to solve problems inherent in the learning process.

Assessment methodologies and evidences

The evaluation consists on a final report with the description and critical analysis of all the activities developed, and a academic public event with a maximum duration of 60 minutes (and 10 minutes for presentation) towards a jury composed by the Course Director; Guidance Teacher and official of the host organization (in case of AOP it will be a Teacher).
