The "Intervention Project II" is organized to guide the student to contact with clinical experiences in real intervention contexts, seeking to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in the different areas throughout their academic training and, at the same time, integrate new knowledge and skills derived from practical experiences.
In this sense, it is intended that the student develops pre-professional skills of technical, pedagogical, social and cultural intervention, as an intervenient in projects and / or programs within the scope of the Sports System or related. This intervention is carried out through a practical intervention in sports organizations / institutions choosen among different intervention contexts related to the sports professions.
Teaching methodologies
The internship model assigns different competences to the main actors in the process: (a) supervisor of the training school; (B) cooperating technician of the host institution; (C) trainee student (c.f. "Internship Guidance Document").
The supervisor is responsible for the scientific and pedagogical orientation of the trainee (tutoring), mediating the role and functions of the cooperating technicians and the trainee evaluation process. The cooperating technician integrates and monitors the trainee activity aimed to the implementation of the intervention project, provides technical support and advice to the trainee, and relates to the supervisor to inform him the way the process is taking place.
Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes
The CU "Project Intervention II - Internship" represents for the trainee student a decisive moment for the application of the knowledge and skills acquired and the reinforcement of the acquisition of pre-professional skills in the field of sport. This phase is the corollary of the 1st cycle of academic training and enables the begining of the affirmation of a future sports technical.
The time set for the internship consists of a total of 8 hours per week during the first semester, according to a pre-defined schedule. In addition, there are two full weeks of internship during the semester, which are exclusively dedicated to the accomplishment of internship activities and full-time stay in the host organizations.
According to the adopted internship model, the trainee student should perform, among others, the following tasks:
- observe, describe and analyze the structure and dynamics of the host organization;
- implement (and adapt) the previously established intervention project;
- participate in meetings and collaborate with the cooperating technician in the programming, organization and implementation of the internship activities and other initiatives of a formative nature promoted by the host organization;
- to integrate and reflect on the new knowledge and skills acquired during the "practices" lived in real contexts of the sport professions;
- cooperate in the dissemination and / or use of new knowledge within the organization;
- prepare the necessary documents for the final evaluation process, with particular emphasis on the preparation of the final traineeship report.
Assessment methodologies and evidences
The evaluation of the students is based on the assumptions of continuous assessment. In the continuous evaluation process, the following components are considered:
- Assessment of the work done by the trainee in the host institution, based on visits made to the internship sites and information reported by the cooperating technicians (20%);
- Portfolio of internship activities (20%);
- Assessment of the final traineeship report (35%);
- Oral discussion of the final internship report (25%).
Evaluation by means of a final exam presupposes the previous accomplishment of the internship activities scheduled during the semester. The final exam is limited to the following UC evaluation components: a) delivery of the portfolio; b) delivery and discussion of the final internship report (or rewording of the document).
Attendance system
The assessment of the students in the CU "Project Intervention II" is based on the assumptiom of continuous assessment. The participation of students in less than 85% of the scheduled internship activities compromises the assumptions of continuous assessment. In addition, absences from internship activities will only be accepted if they occur for weighty impeding reasons and if their justification is legally grounded.
