Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)


With this curricular unit, students are expected to develop ways of seeing and understanding inclusive educational situations and contexts that distance themselves from common sense and uncritical repetition of standardized and exclusive educational interventions.

It is also hoped that students will deepen and take ownership of the theoretical methodological modalities that govern research in education.
It is also intended that they know how to delineate a theme, and within it, be able to delimit a theme around which they will develop their Projects.
It is also intended that students know and know how to use the methodology of research in education and the main tools for collecting and analyzing information.

2.1. Epistemological questions of educational research

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

The concepts of Socio-educational Animation are approached so that students can develop projects in the area, theoretically and technically based;
The approach to the issues of Childhood / Adolescence and Youth (disruption of social behavior, school abandonment and failure, neglect and maltreatment) makes it possible to work with different populations
The elaboration, implementation and evaluation of projects of socio-educational animation enables the necessary knowledge to the activity as animators in different educational contexts
The approach of the Portuguese reality and the study of the good practices of socio-educational animation allows the deepening of the knowledge of the different practices in order to develop an up-to-date and creative professionalism.

Teaching methodologies

The program contents aim at three main objectives of the UC: a) the development of modalities of discernment of educational situations freed from common sense and the consequent construction of a complex conception of these same situations, informed by an ability to epistemologically situate the paradigm of research in education; B) developing the capacity to delimit research themes; (C) the development of a proficient use of the devices, instruments and procedures for collecting and analyzing observations.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

The UC is developed around the project work that will explore a research topic, to which the theoretical practical sessions, the tutorial orientation and the field work carried out in articulation with the other UC's of the Post-Graduation contribute.

Tutorial follow-up:
The tutorial follow-up aims to: support and guide students throughout the UC in carrying out the project work, clarify questions and doubts, provide advice and information; The monitoring will be done either in person or at a distanceStudent participation:
Students are expected to attend classes and participate in the discussion of the issues under review; (B) to read, analyze and discuss the available supporting texts; (C) present on the expected dates the status of their projects d) carry out the work scheduled on the agreed dates.
Demonstration of the coherence of teaching methodologies with the UC learning objectives

It is intended that the students make a first approach to epistemological questions of investigation and the construction of knowledge in educational situations, as well as to know the research methodology in education and some of the main techniques used.
It is also intended that the students participate in the discussion of the issues under analysis, as well as in the proposed works; Read, analyze and discuss the supporting texts presented; To carry out the planned works, particularly the design of an action research project preferably designed in a real context of teaching practice.

Assessment methodologies and evidences


Realization of a project work, articulated with the work developed in other UC's.
This work should reflect the experience and the knowledge acquired by the students, translated into a coherent, pertinent and theoretically grounded discourse.
Periodically, during the semester and during the classes that will work according to the modality of seminar, the students will make the point of situation of the development of their works.

In order to safeguard the rights of students under special arrangements, the modalities of evaluation will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
