Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)

Provide the students with basic knowledge about the phenomenon of sound, its origin, propagation, capture and editing.
Enable students to perform work in audio, handling the essential equipment so they can use this knowledge in multiple
areas of the audiovisual.
Develop critical listening skills and aesthetic sensibility and technique for the effective use of an "intelligent listening".
Understand and interpret the physical and sensory phenomenon related with sound.
Knowing the operation of equipment and techniques for collecting, recording and sound editing.
Develop critical skills and aesthetic sensibility.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

Knowledge of the theoretical component of the sound is essential for effective use as part of work, both in the process
of capture or during editing and mixing.
Knowing the audio equipment is also essential to explore all possibilities to increase the fidelity or the desired aesthetic effects.
The development of aesthetic sensibility is important for sound design work with the aim of creating sound
environments and trigger emotions in the listener.

Teaching methodologies

Expositoryparticipatory
method for theoretical notions. Critical listening and elaboration of practical work in the studio
with handling available equipment.
Developing a system work in pairs of students based on the construction of a narrative with a minute long using sounds
captured by them.
Development of an information profile work with a minute long, with the use of text and musical sound.
Developing a promotional profile work with twenty seconds long, with the use of text and musical sound.
Continuous assessment through participation in meetings and activities proposed, complemented with the development
of a written test.
Written Test 50%
Works 40%
Participation 10%

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

A strong component of UC is related to the theory of sound, through the explanation of its physical, physiological and
psychological component, so that students are able to understand the phenomena related to acoustics.
The practical component aims to enable students to handle the sound equipment, thereby internalizing the theoretical
knowledge and developing technical and aesthetic sensitivity necessary for the implementation of audio work for
various media, such as radio, television, internet, multimedia presentations or for sound reinforcement spectacles and
different spaces.
