Understand the relevance of practice observation in the process of reflection on the practice and professional development of the educator / teacher.
To reflect about the ethical principles underlying observation as well as its advantages, difficulties and limitations.
Develop skills for observation and critical analysis of situations related to educational practices.
To select / adapt / construct and critically analyze observation instruments to produce appropriate guidance on observed educational practices.

Syllabus

Concept, importance and limitations of observation.
Observational methodologies - principles, techniques and instruments:
Observation as support of pedagogical intervention
Characterization of educational situations resulting from observation
Ethical dimension of observation.


Teaching methodologies

In this Curricular Unit, in addition to the discussion and analysis of texts proposed by teachers, it is expected to carry out practical activities in small groups that will involve the trainees in the selection / adaptation / construction of tools to observe the practices, in the analysis of episodes regarding formal and non-formal educational situations, and in the preparation of reports to characterize these practices.


Assessment methodologies and evidences

The evaluation will take into account: (i) the activities carried out by the trainees in the classes (20%); (ii) the construction of an observation instrument (30%); (iii) the preparation of a written report on the analysis of an episode concerning an educational situation (50%).
