- Understands health concepts regarding the biological, psychological and social dimension.
- Identifies the factors that affect the health of individuals and families
- Identifies beliefs and attitudes within health issues
- Analyzes and reflects about health problems existing today and in the families’ daily life.
- Discusses intervention actions that can promote health, safety and welfare for specific audiences.

Other contents: in relation to students interests specific issues will be approached inviting guest speakers.


Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

The themes and concepts approached allow the development of a broad view about the field of health education and ptomotion. The aim is to develop a comprehensivel perspective of health concepts, health promotion and health education, in its different dimensions, in relation with themes and issues present in our daily lives.

Teaching methodologies

In order to equip students with the conceptual framework that will enable them to be familiar with health sciences, to understand their role in society and to develop skills and attitudes for health promotion and prevention, this UC is organized in modules with different but articulated themes.
Classes include theoretical and theoretical-practical moments with diversified practical activities. In reflecting about various health topics, students` individual experiences and ideas are valued and learning activities seek to involve students in building their own knowledge.
Learning process includes:
- Information search and analysis
- Classroom discussions and debates
- Analyses of health education projects and interventions
- Practical activities with manipulation of specific materials

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the face-to-face classes, starting on March 12, were replaced by distance education tasks, using the Moodle, Zoom and e-mail platforms.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

Teaching methodologies reflect the diversity of subjects and approaches within health education. Emphasis is made upon differente practical activities and in the analyses of health education strategies in relation to specific contexts.

Assessment methodologies and evidences

The final assessment includes participation in classe activities (10%), a written test (30%) and the ativities developed during classes (60%).


Attendance system

In all classroom sessions compulsory participation in the activities is 75%. In the tutorial sessions compulsory participation is 90%.
