Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)

At the end of the course students should be able to:

- Express themselves clearly, structured and fluent in oral and written activities in the professional environment.
- Understand the types and functions of non-verbal communication, promoting their effective use in professional and social contexts.
- Recognize and analyze the information, specific discourses and vocabulary of their professional context.

Syllabus

1. Forms and Contexts of Professional Communication

Oral and written communication.
Formal and informal communication.
Verbal and non-verbal communication.

2. The Practice of Professional Communication

Oral activities: debates, job interviews, presentations and project work, presentations at conferences.

Writing Activities: curriculum vitae, minutes, cover letter, report.


Teaching methodologies

The course is taught based on the balance between theoretical, expository and participatory classes. Inspired by the Problem Based Learning methodology, it will be made case studies and will be required presentations and reflections by the students (individual and group) as a way to promote an interactive learning process.

Assessment methodologies and evidences

The assessment methodologies includes a test (on the topic forms and contexts of professional communication) (50%) and individual and group works (on the topic practice of professional communication) (50%).
