Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)
Actualy, the Educational research is recognized as a fundamental instrument in the understanding of educational phenomena and is therefore considered essential in the rationale for any intervention in the field of education, in particular, as regards the organization and development of training and supervision. In this sense, it is important that the supervisor / trainer develop competencies associated to the design and development of research projects, in order to support the decision-making process in educational innovation processes.
The curricular unit (CU) Seminar of Investigation and Project I have as a general objectives the deepening of the understanding of conceptual and methodological aspects associated to educational research and, particularly, to the design and development of research projects. More specifically, it aims to promote: (i) the understanding of the the process of designing, organizing and developing a research project, (ii) the reflection about the ethical principles and norms underlying the research process, (iii) the deepening of the knowledge of the methods and techniques of research and their conditions of use and (iv) the development of the skills associated with the construction and use of data collection and processing tools.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes
In a first phase, the contents of this Curricular Unit will be focused on the conceptual and methodological aspects associated to the educational research and, in particular, in the design and development of the research projects. Its approach aims, on the one hand, to understand the process of conception, organization and development of a research project and, on the other hand, to reflect on the ethical principles and norms underlying this process. In a second phase, the contents will be focused on methods and techniques of data collection, in order to understand them and their conditions of use, and in the treatment of statistical data.
Teaching methodologies
The activities to be developed in this curricular unit will aims to achieve the objectives of the course through the articulation of the content defined in this program with the needs and experiences of the students in the scope of research practices already developed (or under development). Thus, the lessons will include: the discussion and analysis of information of a theoretical and empirical nature; the analysis of several researchs, in particular, taking into account, the methodological options adopted; the use of computational tools to support data processing and analysis.
Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes
To build a solid Knowledge about the development of research projects, is important that the methodologies actively involve students in the process of learning. Therefore, this CU will be organized around:
(1) the discussion of texts and research work in order to deepen the knowledge of different research methods and techniques and the development of skills associated with the construction and use of data collection and processing instruments
(2) of the treatment and analysis of statistical data using computational tools.
Assessment methodologies and evidences
The evaluation will take into account: (i) the participation of the students in the classes and (ii) the preparation of a written work that includes the presentation of a research problem arising from the interests of the students, the justification of the relevance of the this problem, the design of the data collect instrument(s) and the rationale of the main methodological options to be adopted. The written work will contribute in 90% to the final classification and the participation of the students in the activities developed in the lessons with 10%.
