Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)

1. Know the fundamentals of project theory and practice from the perspective of the strategic model guide, from intention to action.

2. Demonstrate and understanding the application of variables associated with the management of Nature Sports projects.

3. Know how to design and apply intervention projects in Sports Nature to different contexts.

4. Understand the importance of organizing events and sports events for social development.

5. Understand the economic implications as one of several dimensions of the organization of large sporting events.

6. Analyze the possible solutions to the problems proposed in the realization of sporting events in a region.

7. Master the different functions of organizing a sporting event.

8. Identify opportunities for local and regional application of different sporting events.

Syllabus

The importance of Sport Events.
Typology of sport events and differentiation criteria; Specificity of sport events; Impacts on social development; Impact of economic nature and impact in the short, medium and long term; The sport context and the organization of events; The organization of events and the role of different organizations: the State; Sports Federations; The Associative Movement; The companies; The Social Communication; The application process for a sports event - specifications, rules and procedures; Brand Management in the Organization of Sport Events.
The 4 Big Steps of Organizing a Sports Event.

1. The Conception: The initial idea; The planning and organization of the event; Innovation; The positioning; The evaluation of possibilities; The forecast budget.
2. The Great Preparatory Functions: Administrative and Financial; Legal; Marketing; Logistics; Commercial; Sport

3. The Operation: Schedule of the event; Security and risk control; Reception: Organization, athletes and other staff, media, partners, personalities; The Sports Direction; To the event.

4. The Evaluation of the events in sport; Organizational; Financial; Commercial; Communication; Political. Monitoring and evaluation instruments and indicators.


Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

Is given particular importance to interactive methodologies, teaching by discovery, involving students in the teaching-learning process, focusing on an approach of theoretical concepts referenced by scientific research and its application in practical situations, based on the theory of projects .

Teaching methodologies

For practical studies the methods of work are diverse and in function of the objectives of each class. The most frequently performed by the students are the development of sub-themes, discussion panels, individual and / or small group work, the preparation of synthesis and reflection sheets on theory and project work .

The evaluation is continuous and the students integrated in it are subject, during the process, to the small practical work of reflection and / or deepening of the study carried out, as well as specific situations of questioning.

Assessment methodologies and evidences

The work developed in the UC will be object of:

7.1. Process Evaluation (45%)
It results from the student's performance in various types of tasks, such as: research and production of written summaries, practical / applied papers, reviews, reports, oral presentations, critical participation, attention, pertinence of interventions, interest in activities, attendance, etc. (5%). The evaluation of the process consists in the elaboration of a sports project / event (45%)

7.2. Product Evaluation (50%)
It is expressed by the student's performance in the written test (50%) (option to perform two written tests throughout the semester.
The process component of continuous assessment will contribute 50% to the final grade. The product component of continuous assessment will contribute 50% to the final grade.
In order to be in the process of continuous evaluation the student has to fulfill a attendance of 75%.

a) Minimum attendance of 75%, participation in classes, as well as in the accomplishment of the proposed works.

b) Perform the tasks and the work programmed, evidencing with clarity and rigor the appropriation of the knowledge on the matter.

Observations

Students with special statuses, who cannot be present at the planned sessions, must inform the teacher in the first fifteen days of classes. In these cases it will be developed a new evaluation criteria, according to the possibilities and particular conditions of attendance of the students involved, in order to allow the monitoring of classes and their continuous evaluation.
