In this final year, the subjects TPTI 4 and 5 will deepen the knowledge acquired by students in previous
years and address more diverse and specialized aspects of ILGP.
The development of technical practical and theoretical skills are considered essential for the performance of ILGP functions with regard to the field of the languages ,LGP and LP which are involved,as well as their respective linguistic and cultural conditions, and the appropriate translation strategies for diverse contexts.
Development and vocabulary enrichment and translation practice and LGP in different specialized
contexts. Translation and interpretation in diverse fields: health and mental health, television, performing arts, namely, theatre and others not specified here, its characteristics, requirements and constraints.
How to overcome difficulties in interpretation and translation of unusual vocabulary or technical
terminology, names, numbers and translation ambiguities; the international signs (constraints and
strategies adopted); practical exercises of translating and interpreting from and to LGP.
Understanding of the roles of the translator interpreter of LGP and acquiring theoretical and practical
knowledge will be improved. The themes addressed in this UC are intended to lead students to deepen and develop their knowledge and skills in the field of translation and interpretation in general and in the context of the LGP in particular.
Theoretical approach: themes; distribution of documentation; theme-oriented research; presentation of
topics related to the post content research students; discussion and debate.
Practical approach: practical exercises of interpretation and translation; translation exercises in LGP; audio and video recordings and its analysis and correction, translation exercises for voice by viewing videos and practice reading of respective written translation and his LGP/oral; preparation of video and audio recordings glosses and glosses.
The close link between the theoretical approach and practical approach aims to encourage the active
participation of interested students, essential to the progress of the discipline and to achieving success in
the ratings. As well as class participation, guided research, completion of the exercises set by the teacher, participation in extracurricular activities will also be encouraged (seminars, meetings, conferences and events related to the deaf community) which will enhance the knowledge gained in the classroom and the development of theoretical and practical knowledge. Ability to identify, select and use appropriate translation strategies for different contexts of translation and interpretation, the ability to produce translations of advanced difficulty. The practical exercises developed in this course aim to create an environment conducive to the assimilation of this knowledge and adoption of appropriate strategies.
Theoretical evaluation (theoretical work/test) – 30%
Practical evaluation (1/2 practical work of translation for LGP/LP - audiovisual recording and gloss) – 40%
TLGP+25% TLP = 65%
Participation; Attendance; Autonomous work; Homework – 5%
The assessment by examination includes three tests:
1- theoretical test in writing, with a duration of 1 hour + 30 minutes of tolerance (30% of the grade);
2- practical assessment consisting of a video recording of a translation from LP to LGP, duration 5 minutes, followed by the elaboration of a written gloss analysis and correction of the recorded video, with a duration of 1 hour (50% of the grade).
3- practical assessment consisting of an audio recording of a translation from LGP to LP, duration of 5 minutes, followed by the elaboration of written gloss analysis and correction of the audio recording, with a duration of 1 hour (20% of the grade).
