Objectives, competences and learning Outcomes

Health Education and Communication is a 2-ECTS graduate course that aims to provide students with educational planned strategies supported by technical and scientific evidence for the promotion of vocal health and hygiene. Specifically, students acquire skills to:
• Develop an educational program, properly articulating stages and dimensions of vocal health and hygiene promotion;
• Select teaching strategies according to the objectives, resources and characteristics of the target group;
• Identify appropriate and reliable strategies using instruments to assess program’s processes and results;
• Apply basic principles in support materials to achieve the objectives, considering the resources and the target group;
• Justify theoretical and conceptually the formulated options.

Main Contents

1 Education for vocal health and hygiene promotion - Scientific evidence;
1.1 Theories, factors and processes of learning social cognition;
1.2 Planning and scheduling trainings;
1.3 Evaluation of results and processes;
1.4 Didactic training resources: examples;
1.5 Diversity and adequacy of teaching methods and pedagogical techniques;
2 Construction of informative and/or disclosure materials: Specifications;
2.1 The importance of literacy on health care;
2.2 Adequacy of resources and products according to target group;
2.3 Complexity and scriptural-visual media potentials: analysis and experimentation.

Teaching and Learning Strategies

Lectures will be used for theoretical items (1.1, 2.1 and 2.2) and experimentation methods will be used for theoretical and practical items.

Type of assessment

Assessment

For the evaluation course each student will build up and present one of the following products:
a) Plan a short detailed training program on vocal health and hygiene promotion. The student should consider the target group and the skills acquired during the course;
b) Build up support material for vocal health and hygiene promotion program, based on scriptural-visual or audio-visual support materials.
This product represents 100% of the final score of this course.
