The approach of different themes allow the graduate student to understand, analyse, reflect and discuss the central
conceptual and operational issues that have dominated or dominate health policy in Portugal, where he is featured
reducing inequities in health and the importance of social determinants of health and health in all policies. Also
citizenship and participation in health require a reflective debate about his place in the current health policies.
Health strategies will be contextualized from the impact they have on combating inequalities and their impact on
solving the problems of population health. Will also be analysed and discussed the models of health care delivery
in close coordination with the policies, promoting the acquisition of skills that will allow master students to actively
engage in discussions and public policymaking and models of care in Portugal.
Teaching methodologies
theoretical sessions promotes the first approach to the subject, presenting different perspectives on it and
confronting the student with conflicting and / or complementary approaches. In the 10 sessions of the seminar
takes place emphasis on student work and their active participation in boosting sessions through analysis,
discussion and debate of various issues previously targeted for study and reflection. Term These sessions, where
debate dominates the process of teaching and learning, will always be guided and moderated by the teacher.
Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes
Driven methodologies aim to encourage personal and professional development of students, based on a work of
reflection, critical inquiry and continuous analysis, properly guided and supported in theoretical teaching sessions,
seminar and orientation.
The students' active participation will be crucial for the attainment of learning outcomes set for this course. Thus,
students will be encouraged from the start to intervene, to question and discuss the different themes of the
program and invited to reflect on the evidence produced. This methodology assumes a work of critical reading and

The development of analytical skills operationalization will be tested by performing exercises of analysis and
critical discussion of the scientific evidence produced and speeches on Health Policy and its impact on models of
care and the daily lives of professionals and populations. The teacher takes core stage in promoting discussion
and guidance and moderation of it.
The support materials focus on the references presented and texts to be available later or to be researched by
students in databases.
