Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)
• Understand the planning stages, health information sources and analysis strategies;
• Recognize health planning methodology diagnoses and intervention based on specialist nurses in community and public health;
• Identify health needs and tools for setting priorities;
• Organize data from various sources to analyze the health needs unmet and their implications in health services and nursing care;
• Develop action plans, programs and projects
• Apply monitoring tools and evaluation of programs and projects.

• Planning Health: concepts and steps;
• Health Information and planning: databases and health information systems; Key strategies for data analysis;
• Health situation diagnosis: problems and health population needs ;
• Health priorities;
• Planning the intervention: action plans, programs and health projects;
• Health monitoring and evaluation;
• Planning for contingency situation;
• Health planning for efficient resource use: contributions to health facilities contractualizacion and to promote quality care.
Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes
Theoretical study is made by conceptual articulation in terms of unmet needs, the foundation of nursing interventions and the challenges to professionals and health systems and services. The contents provide knowledge of the basic methodology of Health Planning, contributing to the analysis of the current state of health in Portugal and participation in health planning and health services. It is also considered that promote critical analysis, search knowledge, to preparation for the integrated, rational and clinically useful management.
It is understood, therefore, that the objectives and content to explain the systematic intervention contexts connection in order to give a practical meaning to the theory, enhancing its applicability to the professional performance of students
Teaching methodologies
Predominantly theoretical unit with classical theory sessions, complemented by discussion of selected cases from national health reality of. Will be analyzed as a group, texts and data sources, and performed some practical exercises.
In terms of evaluation, is planned a working group with presentation and discussion
Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes
Methodologies and assessment method promote and facilitate conceptual articulation with learning objectives. The teaching methods include components that promote the active students participation and help to make the transition between theory and practice, enhancing skills acquisition. This active participation in the learning process justifies develop individual and group work and which are used as strategies to discuss cases, analysis of texts and practical exercises
