Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)

With this CU is intended to deepen the student's understanding of therapeutic communication, helping relationship and counselling in nursing. It also intends to develop specialized mental health nursing competences in helping a person, a group or a family with mental health changes. It is intended that students will be able to:
-Differentiate the therapeutic relation compared to other types of relationships
-Discriminate the different theoretical perspectives and techniques of the therapeutic relationship
-Recognize the relational character of aid in nursing
-Identify the helping relationship in nursing as "vehicle of care" and "care itself"
-Understand the stages of the counseling process in helping to change
-Identify the unconscious phenomena that operate in the aid relationship in nursing
-Conduct a clinical interview
-Co-building a helping relationship in nursing
-Valuing the importance of clinical supervision in nursing helping relation

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

The CU intends to deepen the student's understanding of therapeutic communication, helping relationship and counselling in nursing. It also intends to develop specialized mental health nursing competences in helping a person, a group or a family with mental health changes. Its syllabus deepen the understanding of the characteristics of therapeutic relationships and helping relationship in nursing. The clinical interview is studied and trained, as well as the co-construction of a helping relationship in nursing: its beginning (the request) to its end (the terminus). Given the importance of unconscious phenomena that operate in the helping relationship, clinical supervision in nursing aid is valued.

Teaching methodologies

Expository-participatory method using experience of the student group. Training of helping interview in simulated environment, with role play techniques and mirroring Assessment: Portfolio (50%) + Practical assessment of interview (50%)

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

The CU establishes learning outcomes as cognitive knowledge and clinical skills of expert help in mental health nursing. In this sense, the classes will begin in accordance with the expository-participatory method (which uses the professional experience of the group), evolving into simulated practice with techniques of role play and mirroring
