• To show knowledge about the different syndromes Energy in Traditional Chinese Medicine
• To demonstrate deep knowledge of pulsology in Traditional Chinese Medicine
• To correlate the diagnostic method by Pulse with different syndromes Energy in Traditional Chinese
Medicine
• To identify and differentiate the syndromes Simple and Energy Complex of Zang / Fu and Meridian
• To analyse the characteristics of physiological and pathological pulse in Traditional Chinese Medicine
• To identify and differentiate the 28 Pathologic Pulses
• To relate the different Pathologic pulses with the corresponding Energy syndromes.

Syllabus

1. Differentiation of simple and complex syndromes of the organs (Zang), viscera (Fu) and meridians (Jing
Luo)
1.1. Differentiation Heart Syndrome
1.2. Differentiation Lung Syndrome
1.3. Differentiation Spleen – Pancreas Syndrome
1.4. Differentiation Liver Syndrome
1.5. Differentiation Kidney Syndrome

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

The integrated and progressive approach to the study plan will enable students to develop the knowledge
and skills set out in the objectives, ensuring consistency between the syllabus.
Being of the course aims to develop skills in differentiation of energy syndromes in traditional Chinese
medicine, in Chapter 1 , the contents presented focus on the approach of differentiation of syndromes in all
meridians and Chapter 2 will be transmitted knowledge concerning the analysis and interpretation of pulse
examination.

Teaching methodologies

Expositive, demonstrative, participative and problem solving. The unit can be effected by continuous
assessment or final evaluation.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

The development of the classes held by harmonizing the teaching methodologies with the fundamental
objectives of the curricular unit. The syllabus of the curricular unit focus on a particular practical
component the Observation and Diagnosis is chosen to a mixed methodology in order to provide the
student a theoretical consolidation of knowledge related to the differentiation of simple and complex
syndromes of organs (zang), viscera (Fu) and meridians (Jing Luo) and palpation of the arteries to
interpretation of pulse examination, combined with the possibility of technical training and practical
supervised
Verification of acquisition of knowledge and skills will be achieved through continuous assessment or final
exam.

Assessment methodologies and evidences

The final classification (FC) curricular unit for continuous evaluation is obtained from the marks obtained
in the written component (T) and the practical component (PL).
The written component consists of two written tests and is on theoretical a practical content. The minimum
grade in each frequency is 10 values. The laboratory component consists of two moments of practical
assessment conducted during the classes, must be equal to or greater than 10. The final grade is
calculated from the following formula: CF = 0.50 T + 0.50 PL. The classification of all assessment
instruments is expressed on a scale of 0 to 20, and the weighted value of the marks obtained must be equal
or greater than 10.
