SyllabusIntegrated Medical Emergency
Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomesFirst Aid is enrolled in the category of immediate care, to be marked by high risk of life or physical integrity before the severity of sudden situations. Thus, acupuncture professionals who provide assistance to people in different settings and therefore have to develop a set of skills to be able to adequate the best responses in emergency situations where it becomes vital to provide a first aid. The first aid skills are organized on the basis of the best evidence in this field in order to maintain good practices, ensuring a safe and an effective help. Teaching methodologiesTheoretical classes follow a participatory-expository teaching methodologies. Theoretical-practical classes will promote student’s autonomy to solve exercises. In the laboratory classes students will be asked to perform experiments covering syllabus and focus on providing students with skills for hands-on competences on the field. Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomesThe provision of first Aid, although it is based on a simple set of procedures that enhance and safeguard life, have at the same time some complexity, not only because they are some techniques to be carried out but also became complex due to the different settings in which these events may occur. The analysis offilms and their discussion, the theoretical classes supports praxis as well as the training, giving students skills and techniques which are supported by theoretical knowledge in a combination with the praxis. Assessment methodologies and evidencesThe written component consists of two written tests containing both the theoretical and the theoretical-practical contents. The minimum grade in each frequency is 9.5 values. The final grade is calculated from the following formula: FC = 0.50*T + 0.25*TP+0,25*PL. The classification of all assessment instruments is expressed on a scale of 0 to 20, and the weighted value of the marks obtained must be equal or greater than 10.
