Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)

It is intended that at the end of this course the student is able to:
• Understand the basic concepts associated with physiological disorders at the origin of the urinary system
diseases.
• Understand concepts of integrated physiology, comprising the pathophysiological mechanism processes
as inflammation, cancer development and the osteoporosis.
• Learn the basics of immunology.

3. Pathophysiology of cancer
4. Inflammation Pathophysiology
5. Pathophysiology of osteoporosis and subclassification
6. Basic Immunology: pathophysiological fundamentals, classification and manifestations

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

The sequencing of the content responds to the sequence and complexity of the objectives. Each object of
UC is achievable in connection with at least one content group. On the whole content will be turning
towards achieving complex goals involving the recognition of symptoms associated with conditions in
conjunction with the etiology of the same.

Teaching methodologies

Expositive, demonstrative, participative and problem solving.

This is a UC with a predominantly theoretical nature, but uses also tools that facilitate understanding of the
dimensions of the disease in different systemic possibilities. Thus, in practical classes, are used in clinical
cases for the application of concepts and theories integrating also with knowledge from pathology I if
possible and if necessary.

Assessment methodologies and evidences

he unit can be effected by: (a) continuous
evaluation, ongoing at the school and that results in the exemption examination period, if the final grade is
equal to or higher than 10, and assuming the formative and summative dimensions; (b) exam, which takes
the summative dimension. The assessment is made by two written tests, each one accounting for 50% and
with 9,5 values of minimal classification.
The classification of all assessment instruments is expressed on a scale of 0 to 20, and the weighted value
of the marks obtained must be equal or greater than 10. The exam consists in a written test, in which the
approval will require a rating equal to or higher than 10.
