Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

The contents of this course focus on the development of knowledge about complex processes of critical illness and / or organ failure of various systems and their importance in the diagnostic, therapeutic interventions and evaluation of outcomes to critically ill patients and their families. The contents will be based on a dynamic query, analysis and interpretation of the works listed in the bibliography and especially of scientific papers addressing different issues that will be the object of study of the course. These were defined in order to support, in a theoretical perspective, the learning outcomes.

Teaching methodologies

A model of student-centered teaching and learning outcomes set is suggested. It is intended that the training leading to the development results that meet the defined objectives, with special emphasis on the promotion of intellectual autonomy of the student, their critical-reflective capacity of problem solving, communication, teamwork, leadership and creativity.
As a teaching methodology we suggest exposing the contents orally, with group work, case discussions, simulations, "Brainstorming", "Role Playing", viewing and critical reflection films.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

A student-centered teaching method is required, one that encourages reflection and enhances the processes of cognitive and interpersonal nature, advocating the acquisition and development of concepts, problem solving, constant research and practical work where it clearly identifies aspects of intervention therapy in nursing. The implementation of interactive methodologies promote in students a dynamism that affects the process of teaching and learning in a positive way. The resulting demand for knowledge of evidence related to the various topics listed in the syllabus, instills a methodology that students should use during the course and subsequently lead to their workplaces. The teaching methodologies are oriented in coherence and coordination with the learning objectives set for the course since they intend to introduce moments of exposure where it will be worked out the most significant concepts, combined with exposure and demand for scientific evidence. It is expected from the students to be the driving force in their own development and undertake in their work a constant search for updated information that supports the syllabus and justifies the work done. It is an important incubator of knowledge to apply in clinical practice.

Assessment methodologies and evidences

Review:
- Development of a group work (maximum 4 students) with 15 pages – The paper should analyze a clinical case related with a complex process of people with critical illness and / or organ failure (60%), with individual discussion (40% clinical case)
Assessment by examination:
- Individual written work with oral discussion.
