MODULE I - WOMEN AND MOTHERHOOD
History and current perspectives of Maternal Health and Obstetric ;
Indicators of Maternal Health and Obstetric ;
Assistance in Obstetric and Maternal Health ;
Motherhood ( hospital) ;
Powers of general nurse and the nurse specialist in the specific area of Maternal and Obstetrics ;
Female Genital Mutilation ;
climacteric ;
Violence in women ;
The Nursing Process in Maternal Health and Obstetric ( according to the Classification for Nursing Practice ( ICNP ) .

MODULE II - PREPARATION OF PREGNANCY PREGNANCY AND BIRTH
Genetic counseling ;
fertilization ;
Prenatal diagnosis and pregnancy ;
Calculation of Gestational Age and Probable Date of Birth ( DPP ) ;
Embryonic and fetal development ;
Physiology of the maternal cycle;
Discomforts of pregnancy ;
Most common complications of pregnancy ;
The impact of pregnancy in the family ;
Health surveillance of pregnant / family during the nursery cycle;
Multicultural approach to pregnancy and birth;
Sexuality and pregnancy;
Humanized Birth ( Preparing for the birth ) ;
Maternal- fetal nutrition ;

Factors operating during labor ;
Nursing care for the woman and family labor ;
Analgesia and anesthesia in obstetrics ;

MODULE III - AFTER BIRTH
Physiology of the puerperium ;
Breastfeeding;
Psychosocial adaptation of women / family maternity;
The continuity of nursing care to families in the postpartum period ( house calls ) ;
Adaptation to extrauterine life - anatomical and physiological characteristics of the newborn ;
Immediate newborn care after birth ;
The process of linking the triad ;
Newborn risk .

The program content meets the defined objectives.
Its comprehensiveness and deepening stem from the debate and questioning of students.

Teaching methodologies

Expositive with an incentive to student participation, in the understanding of a reflective thought.
Encouragement to the apprehension of the contents given with the use of mental map.
Tutorial orientation in the dynamization of groups of thematic works that aims at the production of an article.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

This course are applicable exemption from the final exam. For exemption from the final exam, the student must carry and pass (minimum grade of 10) in the following evaluative activities: Frequency 70% + systematic literature review article 30%.
In normal or resource time the students take a written exam.

Assessment methodologies and evidences

The classification in the Curricular Unit results from the arithmetic / weighted average obtained in the following evaluation activities: 70% of the grade of the Frequency + 30% of the Group work = Final Classification.

This course has a final examination waiver regime. For exemption of final exam, the student must take and obtain approval (minimum classification of 10 values) in the following evaluation activities: Frequency 70% + systematic literature review article 30%.
In normal time or resource students take a Written Exam.
