Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)
Objectives :
- Engagement in the context of health institutions in addressing the problems of Health, provided to facilitate the understanding and integration of care;
- Acquire scientific and technical inherent in the exercise of their future occupation, and planned for the Clinical Teaching of students from the 1st year of the Bachelor of Nursing, School of Health Sciences , Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal skills;
- Develop skills associated with the use of basic tools nursing .
With EC is intended that the student :
- Acquire and develop and practice communication skills and use of the basic tools of the profession .
- Know the problems and appropriate nursing interventions for the elderly and especially the elder inserted in the context of Institution Support for Elderly .
- Ground nursing interventions in the care of the elderly according to the steps of the nursing process
- Relate and critically analyze the development of their skills and learning

The contents, structured by different modules, allow the development of skills.
Teaching methodologies
Considering the level of development of the undergraduate students at this stage it is anticipated that this EC students are integrated into nursing teams, developing their learning under the guidance of mentor nurses and supervision of teaching reference.
The students perform EC for 6 weeks (3 weeks in the health center and 3 weeks in elderly home) developing activities necessary for the achievement of the objetives.
Integration of activities is gradual.

Observations
The final classification EC is the responsibility of pedagogical team.
Any element of assessment will have to be rated equal to or greater than 9.5. A lower rating in any of the elements of assessment will imply unsuccessful Clinical Practice.
