Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)
The construction of a body of knowledge in nursing research by the practice of care enables the development of discipline and affirmation as a scientific profession. Research and knowledge produced become indispensable to support and contribute to improving the practice of care.
In a current era of globalization and rapid dissemination of information adequate becomes necessary selection of the same, and recognize and integrate the knowledge generated by research in their practices is a competence of the nurse.
With the curricular unit Research II, it is intended that the student appropriates the importance of research, know the stages of the research process and develop analytical skills of research studies.
MODULE I - RESEARCH IN NURSING
Expected outcomes: (a) To value the importance of research in nursing; (b) Includes the fundamentals and methods of scientific research; (c) sets out the principal types of research drawings; (d) Realize the consequences of the application in practice of care.
MODULE II - RESEARCH PROCESS
Expected outcomes: (a) Evaluate the steps of the research process; (b) explains the conceptual phase; (c) Compares the methodological stage; (d) interprets the empirical stage; (e) Develop critical thinking; (f) Includes methodological choices; (g) Lists the steps of the research process; (h) the methodologies discussed in connection with the objectives
MODULE III - GENERAL ELEMENTS OF PROCESS
Expected outcomes: (a) Develop critical thinking; (b) develop team work skills; (c) Member of working group, actively participating in the debate; (d) Seeking the agreement of the group or the consensus in decision making.
Syllabus
MODULE I - RESEARCH IN NURSING
1. Background and importance of nursing research
2. Priority areas of nursing research
3. Paradigms of research: qualitative and quantitative research
MODULE II - RESEARCH PROCESS
1. The research project
2. Ethical Aspects research
3. conceptual phase: study of the subject, matter of starting, literature review, framework, problem, purpose, question, variables and hypothesis
4. Methodological phase: experimental research design and not experimental, harvesting methods and data analysis
5. Empirical phase: collection and analysis of data
6. Phase interpretation and dissemination: presentation, analysis and interpretation of results.
MODULE III - GENERAL ELEMENTS OF PROCESS
1. Critical analysis of research article
2. Construction of document in support of the study.
Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes
Expository and participatory approach, encouraging critical and reflexive thinking of students.
Group dynamics and problem solving / case.
Practical classes, with critical analysis of research papers.
Teaching methodologies

Proof of theoretical knowledge assessment (individual, without consultation, focused on topics covered in classes).
