Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)

The aim of this curricular unit is to develop knowledge and understanding of the core metabolic processes. At the end of this unit students should demonstrate knowledge of histology and physiology of the musculoskeletal system and of the core characteristics of the central and peripheral nervous system, related to the neuromuscular control. It also aims to promote in-depth knowledge of the three-dimensional organization and functional anatomy of the different regions of the human body, through theoretical study and supervised practice of cadaveric dissection, which facilitates the establishment of anatomical-clinical and anatomical-functional correlations.

Syllabus

• Anatomy of the musculoskeletal, neurological, vascular and lymphatic systems;
• Physiology of the musculoskeletal, neurological, vascular and lymphatic systems;
• Physiopathology of the locomotor system;
• Cadaveric dissection;
• Anatomical-clinical and anatomical-functional relationships.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

Teaching and learning strategies includes:
• Lectures and Seminars
• Small Tutorial Groups
• Clinical Skills Lab;
• Self-directed Learning

Teaching methodologies

Avaliação distribuída com exame final

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

The assessment methods include a multiple choice written test of 1-hour length (100%). To complete this curricular unit the students must have a classification of a minimum of 50% in the test.
