Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)

At the end of the curricular unit, the student must demonstrate:
Knowledge and understanding of the structure and organization of the Portuguese Healthcare System principles of clinical governance to assure good practice in physiotherapy;
Knowledge and understanding of The National Health Plan and programmes
Ability to use project methodology to develop a community intervention project
Ability to identify and assess health needs or health determinants of a target group;
Ability to set clear, objective and realistic goals according to the problems identified;
Ability to develop adequate strategies for community health promotion;
Ability to prescribe and plan exercise programs tailored to address specific needs of different populations
Ability to identify human, financial and other resources needed;
Ability to define measurable indicators to evaluate outcomes and process;
Ability to analyze the Healthcare system and national priorities and to identify opportunities for employability in physiotherapy;
Ability to work collaboratively in teams and to interact with other healthcare professionals.

Planning in health promotion.
Identification of the subject, purpose and specific objectives of the project.
Planning the intervention
Assessment Methodologies of the project. Indicators.
Development of a health promotion project

Teaching methodologies

Teaching and learning strategies are student-based. Individual differences are respected, active learning and decision making are promoted.

Student has enough time to assess the target group, literature review and plan.
It involves tutorials in groups of 9 to 11 students, as well as autonomous preparatory work.

For the successful completion of this unit, the student must have 9.5/20 in each of the following activities:
Preliminary project and final project.

The classification of this unit is calculated based on the classifications obtained in each of the following activities:
Preliminary project (20%) + Final project (80%)
