Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)

It is intended that the student:
(1) Know the problems and nursing interventions appropriate to the person and family with health
problems of medical and surgical field, in the context of surgery;
(2) Justify nursing interventions in the care of the person and family with problems of medical and surgical
disorders, framing them on the steps of the nursing process;
(3) Identify the resources available to address the health problems of the person and family;
(4) Pay nursing care in a holistic manner to the person and family affects by medical and surgical
diseases, taking into account the Nursing Process and scientific evidence as quality care providers;
(5) Analyze and adjust their learning;
(6) Report critically the development of theirs learning.

Syllabus

The adult and elderly experiencing processes of health and illness in operating context.
Mobilization of context covered in the UC Nursing III and IV and LLS III, IV in providing nursing care in the
context of surgery or surgical specialties.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

As part of this course which takes place essentially on a practival context or reflection on practive, it is
essential to promote the mobilization and application of knowledge and skills acquired by students. It
seeks that through this mobilization in context, before concrete situations and under the guidance of
teacher and mentor, the student acquires and develops skills of nurse responsible for general care; While
the provision of care based on scientific knowledge, is promoting the development of the domain of ethics
and deontology skills as well as learning.

Teaching methodologies

It is expected that students are integrated into nursing teams (in the mornig shift), developing their learning
under the guidance of mentor nurse in collaboration with the teacher reference. It is considered the
passage of student contextually surgery or surgical specialties, providing various learning opportunities in
the provision of care to adult and elderly experiencing the health-disease processes hospitalized in
surgery context.
They consider themselves still moments of tutorials in school, where they promote reflection on practice
and student learning.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

The teaching methodologies adopted at UC promote the acquisition and development of skills of the
supported form of students (monitoring of teacher and nurse advisor); In providing the person nursing care
and family the student needs to know the problems and the nursing interventions appropriate to the
person and family (1) and reasons for it (2), that validation with nurse and / or reference teacher; In
planning these care the students still needs to identify the resources available (3) and search, be based on
the decision-making for care (4); Through the reflection of tutorial sessions on the practice and the
completion of the portfolio, responding to points (4) and (5).

Assessment methodologies and evidences

The curricular unit is only assessed in continuous evaluation format.
Assessment: Clinical Context Performance – 60% and Report – 40%.
