Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)
This Course aims to enable students to provide nursing care for children and adolescents in their family and social context, in the functional content of the general nurse.
Learning Outcomes:
→ Apply the principles of child health and pediatrics;
→ Identify risk practices and adopt appropriate measures;
→ Use the knowledge and techniques appropriately, based the decision and action, incorporates research results;
→ Apply critical thinking and problem-solving techniques;
→ Sees the child / youth and family and the community in a holistic perspective;
→ Develops therapeutic relationships through the use of appropriate communication and information, promoting their empowerment and autonomy;
→ Promotes a safe care environment;
→ Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with multidisciplinary team, identifying and
valuing their roles;
→ Analyzes and evaluates their practices.
Syllabus
The UC mobilizes the syllabus of the course that precedes the previous semester: Nursing VII and also Learning in Simulated Contexts (LSS V).
Along the Clinical Learning derive two modules:
- Helping Relationship and Communication Therapy
- Nursing Process
Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes
Being a clinical Learning UC focused on the development of learning of nursing care to children and youth and their respective families, UC mobilizes the syllabus of the UC that precedes the previous semester: Nursing VII.
Being the child the focus of attention, inserted in the family and social environment that surrounds it, it is considered as theoretical frameworks family-centered care based on Anne Casey Care Partnership Model, so that means fundamental:
a) Contextualize the child nursing care, youth and family for attending to health policies in the children's area and children's rights;
b) Apply the decision-making process in nursing, considering the growth and development of the child / young person and family;
c) Provide nursing care for children and adolescents under the functional content of general nurse;
d) To discuss the intervention of nurses on-the-care.
Teaching methodologies
Monitoring and supervising students in clinical Learning. CU may only be performed on continuous assessment.
Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes
Students of the 3rd year, perform clinical training in health care settings in the area of child health nursing and pediatrics. Students are guided by nurses of the clinical settings and supervised by the teacher.
In partial orientation regimen the frequency and intensity of the teaching monitoring will take place both in the number of students, whether the context of care of the particulars. The dates of the orientations are agreed between the teachers, the mentor nursing care context and students.
LEARNING CLINIC: The clinic learning consists of a formative qualitative assessment and a summative final assessment of the quantitative development of learning achieved, as follows:
Formative evaluation will take place in the middle of each context / EC phase. It will be the student's responsibility (self-evaluation, qualitative, formative) and mentor nurse and teacher (hetero, qualitative, formative).
The Summative Evaluation (quantitative) will take place at the end of each context / EC phase. It will be the student's responsibility (Self-assessment Summative) and guiding nurse together with the teacher (hetero Summative).
PORTFOLIO OF LEARNING: With Portfolio Learning is intended that each student visibilize the learning achieved in the EC 6th CLE semester. This will be a document in electronic form (maximum capacity of 50 MB), delivered via Moodle.

Evaluation of EC-6 Without continuous and will consider the following elements of assessment:
