At the end of this course students are expect to:

a. Identify theoretical and methodological key concepts related to scientific research and to the different components of research projects in the field of speech and language therapy;
b. Plan and design the different components of research projects in the field of speech and language therapy.

II. Methodological conception and design of research projects in the field of speech and language therapy
- Object of research, aims, pertinence/justification, research questions
- Methodology
- Approaches to data analysis

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

In this curricular unit students are expected to develop knowledge and skills related to scientific research and design of research projects in the field of Speech and Language Therapy. Hence, syllabus is based on the stages of planning and design of research practice.
Theoretical-methodological and methodological dimensions addressing the type of problem, the formulation of aims and the project's methodological options are explored and applied to approach different research questions and research aims in Speech and Language Therapy.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

To identify key theoretical and methodological concepts associated to scientific research and to the different stages of project design, expository method and thematic discussion are combined during classes.

To develop methodological skills that allow planning and design of research projects small group work, with the guidance of the teachers, is used, focusing on the conception and design of a research project.

Assessment methodologies and evidences

Methods and criteria for continuous evaluation:
Individual component (50%)
- Written test
Group component (50%)
- Written assignment
[Students must get a minimum grade of 9,5 in each component]

Methods and criteria for final evaluation:
Individual component (100%)
- Written assignment

In this curricular unit final evaluation is only allowed in época especial.
