Aims
This course provides to the graduate in Computer Engineering, basic skills that allows understand the phenomena of theoretical analysis of electrical circuits in DC and AC steady state, the basic principles of electromagnetism.
They are also elementary skills concerning of the principle of operation for some common types of electrical machines. They are also taught skills in interpreting schematics of electrical installations. As well as some fundamental notions of wiring computer rooms.
Program
1 - Introduction.
Notions of load current and voltage. Major components of electrical circuits. Main measuring equipment. Methods of connecting the measuring equipment.
2 - Circuit Analysis - stationary electric currents.
Ohm's Law. Energy and Power Electrical Currents. Notion of source, types of sources, independent and dependent. Kirchhoff's laws and circuit analysis, application practices.
3 - Circuit Analysis - sinusoidal alternating electric currents.
Sinusoidal currents and voltages, temporal representation. Elements resistive, inductive and capacitive. Active and reactive powers. The complex impedance and phasor notation.
4 - low voltage networks.
Introduction. Concept feeder. Scaling a feeder. Notions of protections against over-intensities. Network concept phase. Conversion impedances star and triangle and triangle star. Low voltage computer networks.

Method of Evaluation
The student have two options:
Option 1: (TE + LAB)
Two tests during the semester (average 10 values). Laboraty work (average 10 values).
Option 2: (EX + LAB).
The final written exam at the final of the semester (minimum of 10 values). Laboraty work (average 10 values).
Final grade
The final grade (NF) is given by:
1st option: NF = 0.70 TE + 0.30. LAB
2nd option: NF = 0.70 EX + 0.30 LAB
