- Know different strategies of organizations, for the environment
- To apply methodologies and environmental management tools in organizations
- Know the fundamentals and main lines of application of tools to support environmental management of products.
- Know and understand the concepts associated with risk management.
- To identify and characterize the natural and technological risks with effects on the environment at local, regional or global level.
- Know the methods and tools for risk assessment and risk management.
- Planning for continuous improvement: audits, training, improvement actions.
- Integrate environmental management and risk the sustainability of the organizations strategy.
Syllabus
1. Environmental policies and strategies of organizations: pollution control strategies, risk and
cost prevention strategies, innovation strategies.
2. Environmental Management of products and consumption: legislation, ACV- Assessment of
Product Lifecycle, eco-design, eco-marketing and eco-label.
3. Environmental management associated with processes: legislation, eco-efficiency.
4. Environmental management of organizations: legislation, ISO 14001 and EMAS, Agenda XXI,
other certifications per area activity.
5. Concepts of danger, risk, disaster, disaster and vulnerability
6. Types: natural, technological and mixed risks
7. Methods and tools for evaluation, quantification and risk management
8. Environmental risks and climate change
9. Risk in environmental liability regime
10. Measurement and communication: Environmental performance indicators, Perception and risk
communication. Environmental and sustainability reports.
Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes
- Different strategies of organizations: control, prevention and innovation.
- Environmental management in organizations: ISO 14001 and EMAS, Agenda XXI, specific certifications
- Tools of environmental management products: LCA, eco-design, eco-marketing and ecolabel
- Risk assessment and management: concepts, types, methods, quantification, assessment, decision
- Integrate environmental management and risk in corporate sustainability strategy. Ecoefficiency indicators and sustainability reporting, communication associated with the risk.

Teaching methodologies
A participative methodology that considers the theoretical issues and the practical application through casestudies adapted to the environment technologies.
Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes
The evaluation by work on case studies allows the direct application of the requirements with the
understanding of requirements and variability of possible responses.
Assessment methodologies and evidences
Continuous assessment by indvidual work (50% and team work (50%) or Examination. To get the final approval in the CU, the final grade need to be higher than 9.5 val.
