- Analysis of technological problems to develop solutions for their resolution;
- Encourage capacity for analysis and synthesis, allowing to integrate the technical and scientific knowledge acquired
- Develop a critical sense
Skills:
- Communicative capacity (orally and in writing, with an emphasis on the use of specialized terminology)
- Capacity for learning and responsibility (capacity for analysis and synthesis, to apply the knowledge acquired/capacity to take decisions and adapt to new situations)
- Capacity to work as part of a group and in multidisciplinary teams
- Capacities to locate, analyze, prioritize and synthesize information
- Understanding of the Best Available Technologies

Syllabus
1. Scope and Objectives. Definition of the Project;
2. Preparation of work programs;
3. Library and information Research;
4. Strategies approach to the subject (scientific, technical, experimental);
5. Monitoring of project development;
6. Preparation of reports / dissertations
Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes
The projects are always oriented by teachers from the beginning, defining the project, during development, until the end (presentation/discussion). In each phase the teacher provides the student with the general and specific knowledge to ensure the technical and scientific rigor of the project.
Projects may be submitted to the Responsible Course (UC) through:
- Individual proposal from student;
- Proposals from professor;
The approval of project or internship proposals is accomplish by analysis of the contents of Sheet Motion / Monitoring Project or Internship, which shall be identified all the necessary resources and ensured their availability. When it is intended to develop the project in a company a proposal to the company's statement must be attached to the proposal, to ensure the viability of the project, on the academic year.
The selection of the project or internship is established in the begining of the semester by the student and the responsible of the CU and both can be done in the areas of the specialization of the course.
Teaching methodologies
To support student orientation, Teaching Methodologies are applied:
- Library research on topics or problems;
- Reading assignments in journals, monographs, and books;
- Interactivity Student/Teacher: Enhance research and depth analysis of issues.
- Visit facilities to show applied technology and management methodologies.
Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes
The students are encouraged to research and substantiate the understanding of concepts learned as well as their approach to problem solving, through the application of monitoring techniques and environmental control technologies.
The teaching methodology uses several methods, is suitable to the development of projects in a context very close to the desired performance for a graduated in Environment and Marine Technician , with the support of databases and tools for calculation and design of technologies to support solutions.
Assessment methodologies and evidences
The skills assessment is performed by continuous assessment trough an intermediate report and by the final project document. The final discussion is performed on public presentation that is assessed by a jury. The final grade is obtained by weighting of:
- Quality of the documents submitted (60%);
- Presentation/Final Discussion (35%);
- Poster (5%).
The final grade should be higher than 10 to get approval in the CU.
Bibliography
Bibliography to define by each project theme.
