Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)

Electronic III unit allows students to develop skills in the areas of analysis, design and execution of complex electronic circuits, to be applied in a diversified framework background.

Syllabus

Filters: (1) Analog filters: filters types, system function, filter specifications, Butterworth and Chebyshev filters, first and second order filter system functions, active and passive filter design, realization of active and passive (R,L,C) filters, biquadratic sections, sensitivity and switched capacitor filter technique; (2) Digital filters: finite impulse response (FIR) and infinite impulse response (IIR) filters.
Waveform generators: basic principles of sinusoidal oscillators, structure of a sinusoidal oscillator, Barkhausen Criteria, oscillators with operational amplifiers and RC networks, tuned oscillators with LC networks, crystal oscillators, astable/bistable and monostable multivibrators.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

The syllabus of this unit provides a theoretical and practical background required to analyze, design, simulate and develop analog and digital filters, as well as waveform generators. The thematic units that integrate course characterize analog-digital filtering process and the realization of waveform generators along with multivibrators, also

Teaching methodologies

The teaching methodology adopted is based on two key areas: interactive group lectures to promote self-study and group work environment in laboratory.
The discipline evaluation has a continuous nature and consists in several strands: three tests in the theoretical component (PT), several practical works in the laboratory component (L).
For students with opportunity to attend the course under continuous assessment classification is calculated by NF = (0,6 PT) + (0,4 L), where NF is the final score. The minimum score on two of three tests must be greater than or equal to nine and the minimum score values in one of three tests must be greater than or equal to eight values.
Students who were unable to attend the continuous assessment or having done so, had failed, the final grade is NF = (0,6 EXF) + (0,4 L), where EXF represents the Final Examination. The minimum score on the final exam must be greater than or equal to ten.
The e-learning platform Moodle will be used as a complementary support teaching tool which will ensure a repository of information, information and discussion forums, area of submission for delivering works and tests for self-assessment.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

The main objective of this course is to develop the skills necessary to design, perform simulation and implementation of system-based analog and digital filters, as well as waveform generators.
A methodology based on interactive exhibits character, combined with the realization of laboratory work supported by the theoretical and practical knowledge conveyed at classroom environment, is the most appropriate way to give students the theoretical and practical skills essential to achieve the objectives proposed in the course. The uses of e-learning platform Moodle allows one to consolidate the knowledge imparted and complement face contact, providing an additional point of communication between teachers and students, achieved through discussion forums that promote the exchange of ideas and knowledge among the parties involved in the training process. The platform will support the testing and training
