Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)
Providing the basic concepts of Refrigeration, and its main equipment. Knowing, selecting, sizing and cooling systems. Provide the students with tools that allow you to use the theoretical and practical concepts necessary for the study of various types of refrigeration equipment, and perform its pre-sizing.
At the end of the unit students should be able to:
- Calculating thermal loads in refrigeration;
- Calculate refrigeration capacity, calculate COP's of cooling systems;
- Select and properly size refrigeration equipment;
- Design refrigerators cycles of one or two floors compression.
Syllabus
"Chapter 1 - Study of the refrigerating machines” vapor compression are introduced as the basic theoretical concepts enthalpic diagrams, the main compression cycles the concept of simple isentropic compressor efficiency as well as multiple compression cycles.
“Chapter 2 - Perishable products and their cold preservation” a characterization of food products and the factors that influence the change of food, as well as key processes for food preservation by cold, essential to the design of refrigeration facilities.
“Chapter 3 - Thermal Balance”, are explained and introduced the main methods of calculating thermal loads on cooling concept essential to the design of facilities and refrigeration equipment.
“Chapter 4 - Refrigeration Equipment” are studied in depth the main refrigeration equipment like compressors, evaporators, condensers, expansion valves, capillary tube, evaporative condensers, cooling towers, auxiliary equipment and safety control equipment.
“Chapter 5 - Refrigeration facilities” are studied case studies of major refrigeration facilities like Cold Rooms, Refrigerated warehouses, Display Fridges, Ice Factories, cooling tunnels, Special Facilities, Hypermarkets, Industrial Facilities.
“Chapter 6 - Fluid refrigerants” are studied the properties required of fluids used in refrigeration systems and equipment, appearance key input to the sizing and design of refrigeration facilities and the selection of its main equipment.
