Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

The syllabus of the course Study and Communication Skills, part of the curricular unit Introduction to Electrotechnic Engineering, is consistent with theobjectives presented. The students are presented with concepts through theoretical-practical classes which imply the use of exercises which lead to analysis and debate of those concepts, so as to promote the start of an evolutionary process of each of the participants as a student and a future professional. At the level of the electrical Engineering begins with an overview of the functions and areas of the Electrical Engineer. This view is presented by the teacher and by different professionals working in this area. Are also transmitted the first electrical conceptsm, and teaching measurement and registration of electrical quantities through the use of corresponding equipment for measuring and recording.

Teaching methodologies

The methodologies applied in the Study Skills include presentation and discussion of the theoretical contents, and practical activities, aiming at self-knowledge by the students. In this first part the students is assessed through a final test. The methodologies for the Communication Skills comprise presentation of the contents, analysis of examples and individual and group work. In this second part the student is evaluated through a group presentation and a report. The methodologies for the electrical skills include exhibition of the contents, lectures and laboratory activities. Regarding laboratory activities, there are assessment sheets (F).

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

The theoretical-practical classes allow the presentation of the contents and its analysis through examples, as well as the use of skills as they are acquired, through practical activities. The elements required for assessment entail, by their characteristics, the development of skills which lead to the fulfilment of the learning objectives, namely in what concerns the ability to work autonomously and as a member of a group, the acquiring of research methods and techniques, register and handling of information. In order to improve the understand of the functions and areas of operation of the Electrical Engineer, there are lectures with professionals. The laboratory classes allows to the student stimulate their skills in the how to do, through their theoretical knowledge. In these classes the students are divided into groups, thus enabling develop their ability to organize and work in groups.

Assessment methodologies and evidences

50% Practical Theory
50% Laboratory
- Regarding the theoretical-practical component:
50% test + 50% thematic work (the minimum grade in each of these evaluation components must be 9.5 values)
- For the laboratory component:
75% evaluation sheets and laboratory work + 25% thematic work
Observations: Date of test and date of presentation of the works to be designated briefly

Attendance system

For students workers or others foreseen in the law, who can not attend classes, can perform alternative work. The situations of impediment must be communicated to the responsible of the discipline, before the accomplishment of the class (s) in question.
