Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)

The curricular unit of REE II has the following learning objectives:
It is intended that the student, based on REEI's knowledge, knows the fundamental concepts that allow to understand the operation of the Electric Power Systems (ESS).
In the first part of the contents, be able to analyze and size the operation in steady state of an ESS, comprising the network, generators and loads.
In the second part, know how to analyze and the SEE in a disturbed regime, by calculating the various short-circuit currents in a SEE.

Syllabus

1- Power Flow

Active, reactive, complex and apparent power. Representation of the SEE in values per unit (pu). Components of a SEE. Characteristics of loads. Capacity of transport of a line. Relation voltage - reactive power and frequency - active power ratio.
Matrix of nodal admittances. Equations of energy transit. Gauss-Seidel method, Newton-Raphson and Continuous current. The control of powers carried.

2- Short-circuit currents

Short-circuit current and power. Short circuit of a synchronous generator. Models of network elements. Calculation of symmetrical short-circuit currents. Method of symmetrical components. Asymmetrical short circuits. Digital calculation of short-circuit currents.

3- Medium Voltage and High Voltage Electrical Installations

Project of medium voltage / high voltage installations.
