To understand the part played by Social Sciences and its concepts and techniques;
To understand the systems of social relations on today’s society;
To develop personal capacities: to research, analyse, work in a team, develop and present individual and team works.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes
The Curricular Unit’s aim is to introduce Students to the theories and methods of Social Sciences that carry them to understand the nature of knowledge on Social Sciences and to know analyzing social phenomena and the evolution processes of the actual society.
Teaching methodologies
The methodologies are selected based on learning goals which combines theoretical and practical classes. The first, based on a lecture and an interrogative method, appealing to Knowledge and understanding; the latter seeking to operationalize the concepts and based on text analysis.
At practical classes, based on a participatory approach in which concepts are operationalized to provide a consolidation of knowledge and enable the development of skills.

Assessment methodologies and evidences
Continuous assessment includes: team work, participation in class and an individual written test. Final assessment consists of a written individual exam.
