1. Career management and professional paths
1.1. From the concept of “career” to the concept of “professional path”.
1.2. Internal and external factors that shape personal and professional paths.
1.3. The construction of professional identities.
1.4. Different theoretical approaches on career management.
1.5. Career management methodologies.
1.6. International career management.
2. New organizational settings and new forms of work organization: challenges for HRM.
2.1. Flexible organizational models and flexible work practices: new challenges for HRM.
2.2. Different meanings and types of flexibility.
2.3. The impacts of new organizational models on HRM.
3. Competency management
3.1. Qualification and competency: different perspectives on these concepts.
3.2. Competency management and HRM.
3.3. Competency management models.


Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

By focusing on the different approaches and methodologies of career and competency management, the syllabus of this curricular unit is coherent with the unit's objectives because it will enable students to acquire and develop the necessary skills to understand the factors that shape personal and professional paths as well as the organizational factors that shape competences and career management models, thus enabling them to apply different and career management models according to the organizational setting and goals.

Teaching methodologies

In both theoretical and practical classes we use participation methods. In the practical classes we also use problem solving methods, team work and case study methods.
Our continuous assessment contemplates individual and group evaluation. The individual evaluation is a written test done during class and . The group evaluation is a study about the professional path of an experienced worker.
The final evaluation contemplates a written exam with theoretical questions and problem solving questions.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

The teaching methodologies enable the students to participate and to apply the theoretical concepts as well as the methodologies in problem solving situations or cases, thus enabling them to develop the above-mentioned competences and skills .

Assessment methodologies and evidences

The assessment consistis of a written test and a group assignment about an employee's professional trajectory followed by an oral presentation and discussion. Assessment also contemplates attendance in theoretical and practical classes.
