Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes
This unit intends to introduce the main concepts, theories and methods related to knowledge discovery in databases that can be used in the organization key intervention areas, especially in the Marketing area.
 The use of information systems, information and communication technology (ICT)and in particular the Data Mining, as essential components in the treatment process of large amounts of information and knowledge extraction to support the decision making.

Teaching methodologies
The teaching methodologies:
 - Expositive and participatory in order to promote:
 learning by discovery, through individual and group exploration of the importance of information systems, the ICT, and data mining to Organizations ;
 a learning by research, promoting the research through a work achievement in a specific learning areas.
 In order to promote the group skills development will be achieved through a GroupWork and consequent discussion about the data mining use as a process that enables better decision-making.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes
The expository and participatory approach is used to introduce the main theoretical concepts related to Information Systems, ICT, and the data mining process.
 These methods are also used in the reflection and discussion about examples and case studies presented in order to encourage interaction seeking to real situations. With the group work looking up the development of relational and analytical skills, research and information communication, creativity, applicability, and the ability to understand the Information systems and the ICT importance in the information and knowledge society, and the data mining in the process of discovering hidden patterns from data stored in electronic form that enables a better decision making.
 Through the written test intends to assess the individual capacity for reflection and exposure of taught material and the level of knowledge acquired.

Assessment methodologies and evidences
The assessment comprises:
 • Preparation, presentation and discussion of a Group Work(GW)
 • Test (T)
 Final Grade = 0.60 T + O, 40 GW
 The minimum score for each component is ten.
