Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

UC's main learning objective is for students to gain background knowledge on the structure and operation of information and communication technologies through the usage of word processing and spreadsheet tools in order to help the organization. Considering that the UC syllabus includes both the use of the word processor and the Excel spreadsheet, the syllabus is fully in accordance with the UC intended learning outcomes.

Teaching methodologies

The teaching / learning methodology supports the following components:
• Laboratory classes where the applications functionalities are exposed
• Laboratory classes for the application of contents and exercises resolution
In laboratory classes, students develop the ability to solve problems and use the applications through practical exercises.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

UC's main learning objective is for students to gain background knowledge on the structure and operation of information and communication technologies through the use of word processing and spreadsheet tools in order to help the organization. Since the teaching methodologies are supported in laboratory classes, where the existing functionalities are exposed, the contents are applied and the exercises are solved, thus developing in students the ability to use the tools to solve concrete problems, it is assumed that teaching methodologies are consistent with the intended learning outcomes.

Assessment methodologies and evidences

Continuous evaluation
• Mandatory completion of three assessment moments:
- Word Test (TW)
- First Excel Test (TEx1)
- Second Excel Test (TEx2)
Final Score = 0.2 TW + 0.4 TEx1 + 0.4 TEx2

After the three tests, there will be a Word (and an Excel) repetition test. The student can only do one of these tests. He can choose one of the following alternatives:

1. Repeat the Word test if the word grade was < 7.5;
2. Perform an Excel test (with all the excel contents) in order to replace the grade of one excel test in which the grade obtained was < 7.5;
3. Sign up to take the Word or Excel test in order to improve its classification in the UC (Obligatory if, despite having more than 7.5 in the 3 continuous evaluation tests, the final grade is < 9.5. Optional if he has obtained more than 10 in the final UC grade but he wants to try to improve). If he chooses Word, the best grade obtained (between the repetition test and the normal test) is the one that counts. If he chooses Excel, the 2 best grades (among the 3 Excel tests that the student performed) are the ones that are going to be considered.
Note: the positive grades obtained in AC passes on, that is, in final evaluation students only must do the missing component (word or excel).

Final Evaluation or Normal Season Exam (intended for students who did not perform continuous evaluation)
The Final Evaluation consists of:
• Practical Exam (E). The exam is divided between a Word component and an Excel component (and students will have to perform both).
In order to pass the final exam, the following conditions must be met:
• Exam Note > = 10;
• The student will have to obtain a grade equal or superior to 50% of the quotation attributed to each of the components of Word and Excel.

Final Grade = 0.2 Word + 0.8 Excel

Resource season| 2nd season (it is intended for students who missed continuous evaluation; or for students who didn’t obtained a positive final grade in the normal season or in the continuous evaluation)

This Assessment consists of a Practical Examination (E). The exam consists of a Word component and an Excel component.
A) If the student comes from continuous evaluation, where he already had positive in one of the components, then he will only carry out the component to which he has not yet obtained a grade > 7.5. The valid grades that he already obtained in the continuous evaluation pass to this evaluation period, in the same percentages that they had.
To pass this exam:
• Exam Note >= 10;
• But the student will have to obtain a mark higher than or equal to 50% of the quotation attributed to the components of Word and Excel, that is, the minimum mark of Word is 2 points and the minimum mark of Excel is 8 points.
Final Grade = 0.2 Word + 0.8 Excel

B) If the student comes from continuous evaluation without having had positive in any of the components, or if it comes from the normal season, or if it appears now for the first time: then he will have to realize obligatorily both components (word and excel) in the exam.
To pass this exam:

• Exam Note > = 10;
• But the student will have to obtain a mark higher than or equal to 50% of the quotation attributed to the Word and Excel components.
Final Grade = 0.2 Word + 0.8 Excel

Special Season:

The student will have to carry out both components of the exam, since no classification obtained at previous evaluation moments passes on to this evaluation moment.
In order to pass this exam, the following conditions must be met:

• Exam Note > = 10;
• But the student will have to obtain a mark higher than or equal to 50% of the quotation attributed to the Word and Excel components.

Final Grade = 0.2 Word + 0.8 Excel
