• Provide students contact with new experiences in business and economic context in order to stimulate sciences business knowledge, particularly in the area of SMEs;
• Stimulate debate and criticism of the models, techniques, tools and practices by business organizations face contingencies to the economic context in which they operate;
• Reflect on the requirements for practical application of theoretical concepts learned

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

This is a Curricular Unit in which we present for discussion current topics of interest to students through open classes in which professionals of recognized merit are invited as speakers, addressing experiences and successful cases, providing students with an opportunity to have a close acquaintance with economic reality and business.
This logic provides the development of skills from a range of experiences of various professionals and organizations in the economic and business, sensitizing students to the challenges and key factors in the models of the overall management of companies.

Teaching methodologies

The methodology is based on an expositional approach that begins with a theoretical framework followed by the presentation of case study or examples, by which it seeks to convey knowledge and experience in leading and encouraging reflection, analysis and critical thinking. This reflection is usually based on a participatory approach through which the guests to encourage students from participation and discussion of cases and experiences presented. These methodologies aim to encourage the students to active participation by analyzing resolution of real cases in the field of knowledge, with guidance from tutors.

Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes

The selection of teaching methods is based on the learning goals of the Curricular Unit, so the learning and consolidation of knowledge is effected by examining the successes and experiences of people in the field of economic organizations.
Students are expected to demonstrate at the end of the course the ability to identify and understand the problems associated with management of SME in the respective work environment
