1.2. The specificity of social sciences.

2. Methodologies of research in social sciences
2.1. The disruption with common knowledge
2.2. Different types of research: qualitative and quantitative research.
2.3. The stages of research in social sciences.
2.4. Conception and preparation of a research project.

3. Data collecting methods and techniques
3.1. Observation
3.2. Interview
3.3. Questionnaire
3.4. Document analysis.

4. Ethics in social research.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes

In classes we use active pedagogical methodologies, which include problem solving methods.
The evaluation consists of a written or pre-project assignment in which students define their initial research query, a brief review of the literature and the methodology they’re going to use.
