• Understand the changes to the Human Resource Management arising from internationalization;
• Apply Human Resource Management models in line with the requirements of the internationalization.
Syllabus
1. The Internationalization of Human Resource Management
1.1. Background;
1.2. Globalization;
1.3. The International Human Resource Management as a necessity;
2. Implications of internationalization processes in Human Resources Management
2.1. Policies and Practices of Human Resource Management in globalized contexts;
2.2. Organizational Culture in multinational companies;
3. Interculturality and Human Resource Management
3.1. The opportunities and challenges in international and / or multicultural contexts.
Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes
We consider that the proposed syllabus are the most important to fulfill the objectives concerning the specific characteristics of the curricular unit of International Human Resource Management.
Indeed the issues discussed, and how they are approached contributes to develop the skills advocated in International Human Resource Management. The key aspects to explore in this Curricular Unit are cultural diversity, internationalization and its implications for Human Resource Management.
Teaching methodologies
The teaching / learning methodologies are applied according to the type of classes (theoretical or practical).
• Theoretical classes - Expositive / Interrogative Methodology, using the participative methodology whenever is possible;
• Practical classes - Participative Methodology through study, analysis and resolution of Case Studies about all topics of the course.
Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes
The selection of methods to be used is based on learning objectives to be achieved. So, into this curricular unit the theoretical lessons are given to a large number of students simultaneously and the educational objectives aim predominantly a cognitive knowledge - level of know - know. The practical classes focus on basically on the level of know-how. The practical classes are supported on instrumental activities and practical solving problem through the operationalization of concepts and materials provided in the classes.
But the expository method of teaching, used on the theoretical classes, is also supported by the participation of students, that imply an improvement on the process of learning, discussing, illustrating and responding to issues / questions to the teacher. This method used in the theoretical classes invitates the students to participate, helps to clarify concepts, helps to reflect on the content and help students in structuring and discrimination and integration of cognitive elements (know / know).
