About the Information System
Information Space
The information space model has three dimensions:
- information providers;
- information readers;
- information resources.
A model where the production of information is exclusively channeled into any central service of data loading. Though it might be more effective at first, it quickly leads to delays and mistakes that limit the usefulness of the system, by the withdrawal between those who are responsible for the information and its effective loading.
It’s expected to approach the management of the information resources to the respective producers, making the people involved feel the resources as theirs and incorporate them in their work routines.
That’s why it is necessary a clear definition of the criteria and procedures to identify and distribute competences to the system information providers. It is up to the provider himself to do the correction and updating of the information, thus assuming the role of information manager for the respective resources.
To the information readers (internal and external), can correspond different levels of access to de information resources. In fact, the access might be determined by the information readers’ status, being demanded a personal password for System authentication.
The information resources accommodate a wide variety of information types and can integrate multiple sources and repositories, including databases and components on the Internet. On the Web site organization, most pages still have the access to resources in the left column. The majority of the resources are subdivided into modules which interconnect in different ways.
