About the Information System
Architecture
In SIGARRA the information is stored in a relational database server (Oracle). The user interface is the Web technology which, due to its simplicity, availability and versatility was chosen to join up the different components of the system.
The system holds a component of unstructured data, such as personal homepages of one’s own responsibility. Yet, not all have pages like these, and the existing ones do not always follow the same format. So, in the chosen architecture, there’s a nucleus where the official information is kept, and where the information providers are free to complete it, if and how they understand, without affecting the navigation along the whole Web site of the System.
Thus, for instance, the official webpage of a member of the institution’s staff, of a course, of a programme, etc, can have a link to a complementary web page, of one’s own responsibility.
