Welcome
The study and knowledge creation about complex realities existing in several fields of research, within education and culture, requires the use of a wide range of concepts, investigative procedures that will contribute, to understanding of reality in study and to breaking with the linearity of common sense.
The implementation of these assumptions is made true by the shuttle principle, of going forward and backwards, between the description and the theoretical confrontation and between the induction and deduction in the analytical networked intellectual work. It is important to understand the distinctive features of reality in the presence of the characteristics of the subjects and their actions and directions, driven by different traditions, stories and narratives. Without the dialectical relation between theory-practice-researcher-reflexivity, as theoretical and methodological triangulation, it is not possible to research, analyze and interpret data with accuracy. It does not intend to make the "theory more objective", but trying to get wider and more detailed the reality in which consistency, complexity and diversity are crucial aspects to the analysis and interpretation of social action in studying and building knowledge.
After the first two Research Seminars "Between Theory, Data and Knowledge" held in 2012 and 2013, the present International Seminar, intends to deepen the dimensions of knowledge, research design and different methods of research by teachers of School of Education. In addition, this Seminar proposes to fostering interactions between teachers of other schools of the Polytechnic Institute of Setubal, as well to other similar institutions of higher education and students of master's or other degrees. In addition, inaugurates a new cycle of internationalization, seeking to establish new relations and contexts of work with the international education research community.
