This UC is intended that students develop the following skills:
• Mobilizes knowledge of various areas of knowledge for understanding the complexity of societies and contexts and
processes which fall communicative phenomena.
• Know and understand the phenomena and processes of communication in its many dimensions.
• Domina mobilizes and methodological knowledge in conducting research projects
• Develops research activities in the field of communication.
• Communicate effectively, using the English language for academic purposes.
• Generate effective information relevant to their academic and professional.
• Uses appropriate information technology and communication.
• Organize and plan personal work.
Syllabus
In this unit students have to study all forms of doing a research work.
The contentes are:
Investigation and scientific knowledge
The research and sicentific production
The theoric and research tools
Investigation and social pratice
The investigation methods
Qualitative and quantitative methods.
Metodological options and investigation tecnhiques.
The fases of the investigation process.
Identification and the construction of the problem.
The revision of papers
Objectives and the construction of hipothesis.
The gathering, interpretation and presentation of data.
Statistic contents
SPSS programs.
Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the UC intended learning outcomes
The syllabuses are necessary for students to develop research skills whatever the topic covered or methodology. Are
of a general nature in order to fit different types of research work are qualitative or quantitative. The introduction to
statistics appear in this course since it is a useful tool for research in Social Sciences and exists in no other course of
travel. Are also covered aspects related to the reporting of an investigation reinforcing skills that students have already
mastered when starting this course.
Teaching methodologies
There are some sessions for the presentation of the mnost difficult methodological themes.
Students will built their own project, during the semester,and they have to discuss it, every week, with both teachers.
This tutorial work is a very importante part of the development of the curricular unit.
Some sessions are prepared by specialists (SPSS, oral work, ...) that are invited to work with students whenever it will be needed-
Demonstration of the teaching methodologies coherence with the curricular unit's intended learning outcomes
The teaching methodologies intended to encourage students to develop a research project, based on the various sessions of the seminar. Thus, it is intended that through documentary sources and analysis of research in science communication, they take ownership of the fundamental theoretical aspects of this area of knowledge.
The appropriation of appropriate methodologies for further work, monitoring and presentation of results, constitute the essential elements of performance.
The tutoring sessions, individually and in small groups, play a key role in the preparation and monitoring of these research projects.
Assessment methodologies and evidences
The final assessment of each student wil be composed by:
Written test (20%)
The report of investigation, about a subject , done by the group of 3/4 students (70%)
TRhe participation in the activities in the class sessions (10%)
Attendance system
The students must attend 50% of the sessions.
